Celebrating a Year of Innovation and Growth at Applied Intuition

December 28, 2023

As the year draws to a close, we at Applied Intuition are proud to reflect on a year filled with significant achievements and growth. 2023 included notable partnerships, product advancements, and an unwavering commitment to accelerating the world’s adoption of safe and intelligent machines.

Strategic Partnerships and Customer Success

We are proud to work with 18 of the world’s top 20 automotive OEMs and companies across trucking, defense, construction, mining, agriculture, and other industries. Here are a few examples of collaborations we highlighted this year:

May Mobility

May Mobility is improving transportation through autonomous driving (AD) technology. The Ann Arbor, Michigan-based company operates autonomous microtransit services across the U.S. and Japan to complement public transportation and make transit more safe, equitable, and accessible. May uses Applied Intuition’s large-scale simulation solutions to accelerate its software development cycle and improve its rider experience while saving time and resources.

National Instruments

Our collaboration with NI, a leader in automated test equipment and virtual instrumentation software, is focused on speeding up validation testing of autonomous technologies. NI’s expertise in creating automated test systems and software complements Applied Intuition’s simulation capabilities. Together, our companies streamline the process of testing and validating autonomous driving systems, ensuring safety and reliability.

LG Electronics

LG Electronics, known for its innovation in electronics and technology, brings a wealth of expertise, particularly in the area of automobile parts. The company’s Advanced Robotics Laboratory develops autonomous mobile robots (AMRs) for indoor and outdoor use cases. The team uses Applied Intuition’s Synthetic Datasets to develop and test its computer vision camera algorithms for more robust and comprehensive virtual testing. Combined, Applied Intuition’s simulation software and LG’s hardware are poised to make significant advancements in the development of safe and efficient AD systems.

Ambarella

Applied Intuition’s partnership with Ambarella, a leader in low-power, high-definition video compression and image-processing semiconductors, provides scalable hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing for Ambarella’s CV3-AD domain controller systems-on-chip (SoCs). The collaboration enables customers to run Applied Intuition-powered simulations directly on Ambarella’s hardware, significantly enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of autonomous vehicle technology testing. The partnership is a testament to our commitment to integrating our simulation capabilities with cutting-edge hardware solutions.

These and other partnerships with our customers worldwide help accelerate the deployment of safe advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and AD systems and advance our role as a trusted contributor in the domain of software-defined vehicles (SDVs).

Product Highlights

In 2023, Applied Intuition expanded its product portfolio across the Applied Development Platform (ADP). Our new products, solutions, and features include:

Traffic Sign Datasets

Applied Intuition’s Traffic Sign Datasets enable teams to train machine learning (ML) perception algorithms to accurately identify traffic signs using synthetic data. These physically accurate, pixel-perfect labeled images help teams improve performance on rare classes while reducing the time and costs of training on real-world data.

Sensor suite design and validation

The Applied Development Platform supports various use cases, from scenario creation to map editing and verification & validation (V&V). This year, we announced our new sensor suite design and validation solution, allowing customers to define sensor requirements, evaluate different sensor options, and optimize calibration, mounting positions, and brackets.

“By working with Applied Intuition to provide high-fidelity sensor simulation to our customers, we have greatly simplified the sensor integration process and ultimately accelerated a customer’s time to autonomy,” said Ouster CTO Mark Frichtl.

Euro NCAP standards

The European New Car Assessment Programme (Euro NCAP) sets widely recognized safety standards influencing vehicle design and performance. Applied Intuition’s V&V platform allows ADAS and AD development teams to assess their potential Euro NCAP ratings, identify critical areas, improve ratings, and achieve system readiness.

Community Engagement and Events

Intersect 23

Events play an important role in bringing our customers together. At Intersect 23, Applied Intuition’s flagship automotive software conference, we hosted 300 executives and industry leaders in Mountain View, CA, to define the industry’s roadmap for years to come.

Nexus 23

Nexus 23, our annual symposium with national security and autonomy thought leaders in Washington, D.C., sparked conversations between the world’s top experts and over 3,000 in-person and virtual attendees.

Beyond Intersect and Nexus, our webinar programs and presence at tradeshows worldwide have allowed our customers to continue the conversation and foster deeper relationships with the Applied Intuition team.

Looking Forward to 2024

As we head into the new year, Applied Intuition remains committed to our mission of accelerating the world’s adoption of safe and intelligent machines. We are excited about the new advancements and collaborations that will continue to shape the future of the automotive industry and beyond.

We extend our deepest gratitude to our customers, partners, and team for their continued support and trust in us. Stay tuned for more updates, product news, and events in the coming year!
